Candia Soldier’s MonumentDepartment of Cultural Resources, Division of Historical Resources. Charles W. Canney Camp, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Candia. In 1892, Governor Frederick Smyth, a native of Candia, donated, to the town, a bronze statue honoring 126 men of Candia that fought to preserve the Union. The Moose Plate grant received by the Town of Candia, in 2005, helped to restore damage that had occurred either by vandalism or by weather and time. |
